First day of Indy 500 practice washed out
Rain forced the cancellation of the opening day of practice for the 107th Indianapolis 500.
Intermittent showers in Indianapolis washed out the first official track sessions, with teams preparing in pit lane but unable to complete any running on Tuesday.
Practice will resume on Wednesday with five minutes of installation laps before six hours of open practice from noon. Rookie R.C. Enerson will also complete his orientation program in the morning before practice.
Off-track, 33 citizenship candidates from 24 countries became U.S. citizens at a Naturalization Ceremony attended by Will Power and Scott McLaughlin.
Despite a washout of a practice day last year, Tuesday's cancellation was only the third in the last seven years.
Qualifying for Indy 500 takes place Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, with "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" on Sunday May 28.
