F2 sprint race winner Verschoor disqualified, Hauger promoted to victory
MP Motorsport driver Dennis Hauger was awarded victory in the Formula 2 sprint race in Jeddah after both Trident cars were found to breach the series’ technical regulations.
Both the #22 of race winner Richard Verschoor and #23 car of Roman Stanek were disqualified from the race results after an incorrect throttle map was used during the race.
Trident accepted responsibility for the breach, with a throttle map from 2023 accidentally uploaded to the ECU of each car.
Hauger inherited the lead, with Paul Aron and Enzo Fittipaldi completing the new podium.
Zane Maloney moves up to fourth, with Jak Crawford in fifth, Andrea Kimi Antonelli in sixth, Josep Maria “Pepe” Martí in seventh, and Kush Maini into the final points position in eighth.
Verschoor will look to recover when he starts the feature race in eighth, with teammate Stanek in 11th.
The FIA Formula 2 field returns for the feature race at 12.25am Sunday (AEDT) ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
