Emerson Harvey announced as wildcard entry for Team Australia in F4 Asia Pacific Cup
16 year-old Melbournian Emerson Harvey has taken to social media to announced his selection as Team Australia’s wildcard entry in the Formula 4 Asia Pacific Cup.
Harvey, who made his debut in the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship this year, was crowned ‘Rookie of the Round’ at the Australian Grand Prix, and won overall ‘Rookie of the Year’ for 2019.
He also announced a new partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, to help secure funding for both the F4 Asia Pacific Cup, and a tilt at the 2020 Australian Formula 4 Championship title. The Foundation has previously worked with Cameron Shields to fund his campaign in the 2019 Road to Indy Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.

The F4 Asia Pacific Cup will feature the top three finishers from the national Formula 4 championships in Australia, Japan, China, and South East Asia, plus a wildcard from each series. It was reported earlier this year that the Cup would take place over October 17-19 at Ningbo International Speedway.
Luis Leeds, Lochie Hughes, and Ryan Suhle qualified for their positions on Team Australia as the top three in the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship. The Australian Sports Foundation says that Harvey was selected as wildcard due to his status as “Rookie of the Year”.

Fellow Australian Josh Smith is currently fourth in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship, 35 points behind rival Shihab Al-Habsi with 12 races remaining.
