Downunder trio takes on Formula 4 at Abu Dhabi grand prix

A trio of racers from Australia and New Zealand will take on the Formula 4 UAE trophy at the Abu Dhabi grand prix.

Australian Formula Ford talent James Piszcyk will make his debut for Hitech GP ahead of his season with the team in the UK, while Costa Toparis comes fresh from representing Australia in the FIA Motorsport Games to race with Carlin.

Toparis will be joined by Kiwi Louis Sharp, who finished fourth in the British F4 championship this year.

The trio will contest the Formula 4 United Arab Emirates Championship trophy race, a one-off event on the undercard of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The driver line-up is led by Alex Dunne, who won this year's British F4 title and was runner-up in the Italian F4 standings.

Eleven drivers will take part in the event, including new team Yas Heat Academy, run by the Yas Marina Circuit to promote F4 in the region.

The F4 UAE trophy race gets underway with race one at 7.20pm Saturday (AEDT).
