Calan Williams in huge last-lap Formula 2 crash in Baku
Calan Williams has walked away from a massive crash on the final lap of the FIA Formula 2 sprint race in Baku.
The race was restarting after a safety car period for a one lap sprint to the finish when Ralph Boschung and Calan Williams came together at the first corner, sending Williams into the wall.
Williams was then collected by the chasing pack, with Marino Sato and Cem Bolukbasi driving head-on into the Australian.
“He’s pushed me in the wall,” said Williams.
“I’m out.”
ouch.. you never want to see other cars speeding towards a car at 90 degrees like that. luckily for Calan Williams it looks like it was head-on contact in the end. still a big crash. #AzerbaijanGP #F2 pic.twitter.com/lSELvpOxvkJune 11, 2022
The race continued, with Frederik Vesti taking victory ahead of Jehan Daruvala and Kiwi Liam Lawson.
Williams walked away from the collision, seen on the broadcast speaking to the FIA Medical Delegate.
