Australian Formula Ford season begins in Queensland
The 2023 Australian Formula Ford season begins this weekend at Morgan Park with a field of 24 drivers.
The majority of the field are debutants, with Harrison Sellars, Cody Maines-Rutters, Fraser Hie, Lachlan Mineeff, Matthew Hillier, Jake Santalucia, Lachlan Strickland, Kobi Williams, Oliver and Liam Loiacono, Lachlan Evenett, and Imogen Radburn to contest the full seven-round National series for the first time.
Xavier Kokai is back for his third tilt at the Formula Ford title, joined by regulars Kyle Evans, Eddy Beswick, Connor Somers, Paul Zsidy, Zak Lobko, Daniel Frougas and Tom Davies.
“This year’s calendar really gives us the opportunity to crown a truly National Series winner as we make our way across the country and race in no less than 5 of the 6 states.,” said Formula Ford Association administrator Phil Marrinon.
“Once again, the young stars of our sport will test their skill and ability on a national platform that will see one of them hold the prestigious series trophy up high at The Bend. “
“That driver who ever it maybe will join some of the legendary names of Australian Motorsport as a National Formula Ford Series Winner”.
The field is on track for race one on Saturday before two races on Sunday.
The series then heads to Sydney in April before joining Supercars at Symmons Plains in May.
A stint with the Motorsport Australia SpeedSeries at Winton in June is followed by Sandown and Phillip Island before the series decider in October at The Bend Motorsport Park.
